History helps adults live better. Often it can improve your quality of life and help heal communities and nations. Get to know yourself and your family history.
My family's New Year's Eve tradition is to walk in the woods, parks, riverfronts, or any open space. Each child takes turns for an hour or two to get to know me as a person, not as a mother.

Sometimes, our life story is not pretty. Too often, some of our histories are appalling, shameful, and many of us try to cover it up and erase it from our memory or history books.
Positive or negative history tends to repeat itself for many generations until we examine the truth, discuss, and practice it. Jacob, in the Bible, deceived his father, Isaac. And Jacob's children did the same thing to him. Joseph, one of his twelve sons, had an opportunity to continue with the family trade, but he set a new standard.
