Why Do You Call a Grown Woman My Girl?
Kamala Harris, 59, is the Vice President of the US. It’s insulting to refer to a powerful woman as “my girl”. Let’s talk.
Unregulated emotions blur logic and rarely work in a profitable business, win independent voters in a competitive election, or make a healthy relationship.
The Grace Story.
Ms. Grace, a partner in a law firm took her teenage daughter to a private high school tour. They were welcomed by the Head of School’s assistant and offered a seat in the reception. Within a few minutes, the Head of School emerged from her office with a delighted smile and said, “Come in girls.”
Ms. Grace reported she was shocked at how the HOS addressed her and her daughter. She reflected, assessed her host, and chose not to confront her because she didn’t want to get into a fight.
Ms. Grace concluded, “As I know, familiarity brings insults. I wasn’t in a club with her or having a beer with her on a girls’ night out. My daughter didn’t attend that school because of our first impression of the person who could have been her role model for four years.”
