Every good thing takes time.
As a new writer, invest your time in leaving a thoughtful comment and reading others’ work.
It takes time to gain real followers, readers, and fans. If your goal here is for people to read your work, read others’ work and leave a thoughtful comment.
When readers and writers recognize your name, they’re likely to follow you, become your fan, and read your work.
How it works:
You’re likely to gain readers if you read others’ work. Be honest and read others’ work as much as you can. Choose to move on if you don’t like the story. Don’t clap if you don’t read the story. Clapping or highlighting without reading others’ work is foolish and unprofessional.
I often move on if I don’t like the story. Or, I look for an old article and read before I clap. I have unfollowed a well-established writer because he used to highlight one line without reading my story.
Write thoughtful comments:
Read a story and pick one thing you like, then write a comment. It’s OK to disagree with the writer, but explain your point of view in a thoughtful manner.
Reading and commenting works best if you’re a new writer or have less than 1000 real followers.
I didn’t use to write comment until a few months ago. For me, leaving a thoughtful comment takes time, but it works. I gained most of my readers and real followers from commenting on others’ stories.
Every good thing takes time. Invest your time in reading and leaving a comment to attract real followers.
If you’re a new writer or have less than 1000 real followers, invest your time and energy in leaving thoughtful comments on others’ work. Most importantly, read to learn and gain more experience writing here.
Help yourself grow.
