The Secret: The Southern Baptist Church Abuse

Massive church abuse in SBC spread like wildfire from church leaders, parents, Sunday school teachers, and youth pastors. Victim blaming, shaming, and cover-up by the so-called leaders. Now, what?

Recently I read a six-part investigation. “Abuse of Faith,” by Houston Chronicle. This six-part report can be an eye-opening life lesson for many people in the house of worship or organized religion led by cult leaders.

What I took from the reading was that the investigation aims to educate and showcase the best way to prevent sexual abuse — through awareness and education.

More importantly, we must teach our children from a young age how to be the boss and have an independent mind. Prevention through practical and honest education can decrease child or adult sexual abuse. Unfortunately, research shows sexually abused children are likely to be sexually abusive adults, and the cycle can continue from one generation to another. Let’s do our part.

Know this.
