The Dark Side of Old Age
Part 1: Mag lived and died alone in her house. She was discovered five days later.
Mag died in a cul-de-sac on a dirt street about two miles from the county road. Each home on the street has a long driveway about 400 feet apart from one another.
Her house, painted yellowish green, always came alive during the holiday season, and a few years ago, there was a big event for three days. The event marked Mag’s 75th birthday celebration. There were a lot of cars, music, food, and people we had not seen in our neighborhood before.
Mag was a retired high school principal, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was the only surviving child of her parents and didn’t have any living siblings or close relatives.
Her husband died when her last child was five. She worked hard to help her children through college and trade school. They excelled in school and their career.
Mag lived alone for many years in the house she shared with her husband before he died, and she did not remarry. Mag lived her life in style and…
