“The irony of instant gratification is that it leaves such lasting scars.” — Heather King

Sometimes, our problems can be traced back to an easy habit of instant gratification.

Last week, I ate salty Jollof rice for immediate satisfaction and was miserable for 48 hours. Junk food is one of the instant gratifications that get many of us into trouble for days, weeks, months, and sometimes, a lifetime.

Marshmallow Test Experiment and Instant Gratification:

A Stanford University study — the Marshmallow Test experiment, shows how instant gratification can cause us much trouble. Studies conducted in the 1960s show that children who delayed eating marshmallows for 15 minutes fare better in life than those who couldn't hold their longer throats for 15 minutes. We can laugh and move on.
