Yes, I’m an immigrant and a student of history. I purposely kept my young children from the emotionally hardship. It was a parenting style my partner didn’t like, but he thanked me later.
As they entered middle school we began to discuss Black history in a place of strength.
For me, let children be children. I didn’t want to rob my children of their childhood.
Sometimes, our children are what we exposed them to in their formative years — freedom, TV, Books, hate, love, career, and others.
