The last time I checked, she was not a world-class or celebrity writer. However, she had been a writer for many decades.
The Nobel Prize stakeholders awarded her the noble prize for literature becasue "consistently and from different angles, she examines a life marked by strong disparities regarding gender, language, and class."
That means Annie Ernaux is a woman of courage in her writing and has fresh eyes on the history of her life and the world.
